Turin, December 5, 2007 – At the Bologna Motor Show,
Fiat Group Automobiles will be presenting the add-on to the
Blue&Me™ Map, featuring the
PagineGialle and PagineBianche databases and SEAT PagineGialle search engine.
Developed by Fiat Group Automobiles and Magneti Marelli, Blue&Me™ Map is an add-on for “
portable” navigation systems. It was unveiled to the world for the first time in July, at the
launch of the Fiat 500.
Designed specifically for the Fiat 500 and other new Fiat Group Automobiles models,
Blue&Me™ Map represents a new frontier in the market of personal map navigation. It is simple
to use thanks to its high level of integration into the vehicle and the exclusive new technology
used to connect the system to the facia. The driver can operate the system in complete comfort and
safety, using the controls on the wheel and the voice recognition system.
Thanks to an agreement with Seat Pagine Gialle, the Blue&Me™ Map provides full details of
20 million individuals and 3.5 million Italian businesses listed in PagineGialle and PagineBianche,
not forgetting more than 1.3 million points of interest (POI) taken from the SEAT PagineGialle
database.
“We are very proud to be working with Fiat Group Automobiles and that our instruments are now
onboard the Fiat 500", commented Paolo Cellini, Internet Executive Vice President Seat Pagine
Gialle Group. “Access to the PagineGialle and PagineBianche directories represents significant
added value for users of the Blue&Me™ Map, and offers them the chance to browse an enormous
list of names, public bodies and businesses always up to date and accurately georeferenced”.
The search on the PagineGialle database is extremely user-friendly. All you need to do is
enter the name of a person, a business, a service or a product and the system provides the
destination and fastest route in just 5 seconds, with failsafe accuracy. Searches can be based on “
where” (i.e. the area to be searched) or “what”, i.e. the company, business, brand or commodity
sector of interest. The interface is very clear, and allows rapid browsing of the list of
businesses. If the GPS navigation system is active, the address can be shown as the destination,
viewed on the map and then bookmarked.
The idea for the PagineBianche directory is the same. Using the keywords “where” and “who”,
you can find a person’s name and address from among the 20 million entries contained in the
database of Italian residential subscribers.
The Fiat stand at the Bologna Motorshow will host a Fiat 500 fitted with the new system. The
system can already be chosen as an optional in Italy for the new car at a price of only € 299, plus
the cost of the Blue&Me™, which comes as a standard on the Lounge and Sport versions.
In practice, the new system gives you a pocket version of the 228 PagineBianche and
PagineGialle directories and the convenience of an internet search Internet (using the
www.paginegialle.it
and
www.paginebianche.it
databases and search engines) on a portable navigation device. Blue&Me™ Map and the
SEAT Pagine Gialle database can not only be browsed during a journey. They can also be accessed at
any time – at home or during a walk.
The Blue&Me™ offer – a result of the partnership between Fiat Group Automobiles and
Microsoft which began four years ago – is now enhanced even further thanks to portable navigation.
Thanks to the agreement with SEAT Pagine Gialle, Fiat Group Automobiles can also offer its
customers a powerful database, and ensure high quality yet simple to use navigation, something that
fully reflects the brand’s mission.
