The plan of the innovative complex for more than 850 employees announced today
SEAT – Pagine Gialle, the European leader and one of the main operators at world level in the sector of multimedia telephone directories and online services, has announced that it will acquire a significant part of the property currently under construction in Turin, in the district known as "ex Officine Savigliano", owned by Snos S.p.A., a company 51% owned by FinPiemonte S.p.A. and 49% by Impresa Rosso S.p.A.
The acquisition will be funded through a financial lease transaction.
The new Seat PG headquarters will occupy a gross area of 26,600 sq m of the 78,000 sq m of the Snos "Multispazio Innovativo Tecnologico", representing an overall investment of almost € 50 million (including all the necessary modifications and customised features) and will consist of five brand new buildings and a vast portion of the historic building that hosted the Officine Savigliano in the 19th century. The more than 51,000 sq m remaining will be used as offices, services, shopping areas, shops, bars, restaurants and car parks.
Seat PG wanted to be involved in the "Spina 3" project — a strategic area for the Municipality of Turin and one of the most important urban redevelopment projects in Italy involving a historic industrial zone of the city — with a view to reuniting the 850 employees of the local offices in the Piedmont capital.
The new HQ will allow Seat PG to achieve efficiency in terms of spaces and transfers, reduce direct and indirect costs arising from the current fragmentation of the offices and create a workplace and living area that best interpret its essential values: tradition and innovation, skills and capabilities for dialogue with the outside world, commitment to work, and attention to people’s needs.
“By developing innovative services, Seat has given new life to the productive heart of one of Turin’s historic companies” comments Sergio Chiamparino, Mayor of Turin. “Seat has had the courage to accept the challenge of Turin’s urban transformation. This is another step for a Turin which is looking to the future and which is well-regarded in Italy and abroad”.
“Recovered industrial structures like the former Savignano plant, and the transformation and establishment of large, innovative multimedia companies like Seat” says Mercedes Bresso, President of the Region of Piedmont “are truly symbolic of the structural transformation of our economy and town planning, a process in which the public and private sectors are participating with an incredible desire to work together”.
“This project — stated Luca Majocchi, CEO of Seat Pagine Gialle — enables Seat to seize the opportunities provided by public Institutions to create a new system that enables infrastructures, services, production, training and research to focus on shared strategies with a view to supporting businesses. This support can be offered by enhancing the resources already available, identifying possible development scenarios and by providing them with a set of conditions that lend a competitive edge.”
“The objective of this initiative is not only to develop a construction project — concludes Luca Majocchi — but to create a vital, dynamic workplace, suitable to hosting and representing modern enterprises, open to experimentation and co-existence of today’s new and different lifestyles. Seat Pagine Gialle has been, and continues to be, an example of excellence and Turin is its natural and vibrant setting.”
