The engine of art

With PagineBianche d’Autore, the Seat Group has opened a door for young Italian exponents of the visual arts. The initiative in five edicions (2004-2009), which has developed thanks to the sponsorship and collaboration of Italian Ministry of Culture, PARC - General Directorate for landscape quality and protection, contemporary art and architecture, GAI (Association of Young Italian Artists) and Turin City Council, was intended to promote Italian creative talent. Works by young artists (aged 20-35), were selected on a regional and national level, and distributed to every home and business in Italy on the covers of over 27 million copies of the PagineBianche directories.
With the aim of promoting this initiative and the work of young artists also on an international scale, the special New York award was introduced in 2007. The prize consists of a six-month study stay as part of the ISCP (International Studio & Curatorial Program). In this project, which has attracted a great deal of interest all over Italy, Seat is using its image to support the energy of youth art, linking the creative talent of young artists to the network of public institutions which promote art heritage.
The result has certainly been positive: over 4,500 accredited artists, over 280,000 visits to the site www.paginebianchedautore.it (of which 40% have come from abroad), over 280 award-winning works, and over 350 newspaper articles in the national and local press, success and acclaim from the world of art and culture, and in particular a large number of ventures and partnerships formed with the world of institutions, local authorities and businesses all over the country. In the same field, Seat is also the main sponsor of the Gemine Muse project: an initiative which invites up and coming artists to exhibit their works, inspired by the masterpieces of Italian and European museum collections, at places of particular historic or architectural interest.
